Archived because of changes in macOS Sonoma, doesn't load legacy plugins anymore.

MailDisableAutoRead

Mail Disable Auto Read blocks Mail.app to mark message readed, to change read flag state the contextual menu needs to be used.

Latest supported version is macOS Ventura (13.2) Mail 16.0 (3731.400.51.1.1)

Install

  1. To allow bundle plugins in Mail.app type in terminal: 

    defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles -bool true

  2. Download latest build from the Release page

  3. Enabling MailReceipt plugin in Mail.app

    • Go to "Mail > Preferences > General"
    • Click "Manage Plug-ins" button
    • Check mark the "MailDisableAutoRead.mailbundle"
    • Click "Apply and Restart Mail.app" button
