KDE Environment has released the plasma desktop which is one of the most popular desktops. It comes with a lot of linux distros as default.
to install kde use the followign commmand:
apt-get install kali-defaults kali-root-login desktop-base kde-plasma-desktop
Use the defauts when installig. Once done, do the following:
update-alternatives --config x-session-manager
