Collection of config files to setup my system
Clone from github:
git clone --recursive git://github.com/shanewilson/dotfiles.git ~/.dotfiles
Type the following in the dotfiles directory:
sudo make install && make symlink
Solarized console:
gconftool-2 --set "/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/use_theme_background" --type bool false gconftool-2 --set "/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/use_theme_colors" --type bool false gconftool-2 --set "/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/palette" --type string "#070736364242:#D3D301010202:#858599990000:#B5B589890000:#26268B8BD2D2:#D3D336368282:#2A2AA1A19898:#EEEEE8E8D5D5:#00002B2B3636:#CBCB4B4B1616:#58586E6E7575:#65657B7B8383:#838394949696:#6C6C7171C4C4:#9393A1A1A1A1:#FDFDF6F6E3E3" gconftool-2 --set "/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/background_color" --type string "#00002B2B3636" gconftool-2 --set "/apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/foreground_color" --type string "#65657B7B8383"
If you plan on using zsh settings you will need oh-my-zsh
To get the most of vim you will need to install the following:
sudo apt-get install python-pip sudo pip install pip -U
Pep8, Pyflakes, Nose, Django Nose and Virtualenv:
sudo pip install pep8 pyflakes nose django-nose virtualenv virtualenvwrapper
Ruby, Rake, Ack, Ctags and Vim Ruby support:
sudo apt-get install ruby ruby-dev rake ack exuberant-ctags vim-nox
Backup any config files before you change them.
This assumes you have oh-my-zsh installed and working.
Symlink ~/.zsh and ~/.zshrc to /zsh and /zsh/zshrc respectively:
ln -s path/to/dotfiles/zsh ~/.zsh ln -s path/to/dotfiles/zsh/zshrc ~/.zshrc ln -s path/to/dotfiles/zsh/swift.zsh-theme ~/.oh-my-zsh/themes/swift.zsh-theme
Symlink ~/.vim and ~/.vimrc to /vim and /vim/vimrc respectively:
ln -s path/to/dotfiles/vim ~/.vim ln -s path/to/dotfiles/vim/vimrc ~/.vimrc
Setup Command-T:
cd path/to/dotfiles/vim/bundle/command-t rake make
Copy any lines you want from /gitconfig to your ~/.gitconfig files
Everything was put together while using the solarized colour scheme, so you should probably make sure to use it too. It is already included with vim, but to get the most out of the zsh theme you will need a solarized genome terminal as well.
