Restore Windows Photo Viewer in Wondows 10 / 11
Windows Photo Viewer (formerly Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) is an image viewer included with the Windows NT family of operating systems. It was first included with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 under its former name. It was temporarily replaced with Windows Photo Gallery in Windows Vista, but has been reinstated in Windows 7. This program succeeds Imaging for Windows. In Windows 10, it is deprecated in favor of a Universal Windows Platform app called Microsoft Photos, although it can be brought back with a registry tweak.
- Right-click on the restore_windows_photo_viewer.reg file and click on the Merge option, then click Yes and then OK.
- Right-click on any image and select the Open with option.
- Click on the Choose another app option until a window appears that shows you the apps you can view photos through.
- Click on the More apps option.
- Select the Windows Photo Viewer app.
- Check the Always use this app to open option.
- Click on the OK button.
Now you can view photos using Windows Photo Viewer.
