Welcome to Messy, the MERN stack Mess Coupon Management System designed specifically for IIIT Bhubaneswar. This application simplifies the management of meal coupons for the mess, providing an efficient and user-friendly interface for both administrators and users.

Installation

To run Messy locally, follow these steps:

  1. Clone the repository:
git clone <repository-url>
  1. Install dependencies for both client and server
npm install
cd client
npm install
  1. Set up environment variables
  • Create a .env file in the root directory.
  • Define the following variables :
MONGODB_URI= YOUR DATABASE URL
PORT = 5000
JWT_SECRET = YOUR SECRET STRING
RAZORPAY_ID_KEY = YOUR RAZORPAY ID KEY
RAZORPAY_SECRET_KEY = YOUR RAZORPAY SECRET KEY
NODE_ENV = development/production
  • Create .env file in the client directory
  • Define the following variables :
REACT_APP_SERVER_BASE_URL = http://localhost:5000
RAZORPAY_ID_KEY = YOUR RAZORPAY ID KEY
  1. Start the development servers:
  • Start the client :
cd ./client
npm start
  • Start the server :
npm start
