The Stop War! Stop Putin! WordPress Plugin allows you to block all visitors from Russia & Belarus and display a custom message to stand up against Putin and to stop war.
Like a lot of people, we were very much shocked when Russia started the war against Ukraine.
It was depressing to see how slowly western governments were acting to resolve the conflict and how long it took to agree on sanctions. We first felt that there was little we could do until we saw the people in Russia standing up in the streets to protest.
We now believe that the internal pressure from Russians on Putin and the Russian government is the most promising way to end war.
This can only happen when more and more Russians feel sanctions in everyday life and start to stand up.
That's why we created the Stop War! Stop Putin! WordPress Plugin which allows everyone who runs a WordPress blog to block visitors from Russia & Belarus (based on IP addresses) from the content and thus fuel the protests.
When you have installed and activated the Stop War! Stop Putin! WordPress Plugin on your WordPress blog, it will allow you to block all visitors coming from IP Addresses associated with the Russian Federation denying access to your website's regular content.
You can choose in the settings if you want your WordPress website to display a 403 error, redirect to another URL or show a specific, customizable WordPress page to explain why you sanction the access and to encourage your visitors from Russian & Belarus to take actions.
Please be aware of the following things before installing the Stop War! Stop Putin! WordPress Plugin:
- runs 100% natively on your Webserver (no 'phoning home', no API connections, no external data collection)
- works with an integrated database of IP Ranges for Russia & Belarus which are stored locally on your webserver (there will be updates for this Plugin when IP ranges change)
- stores blocked IP addresses of visitors temporarily on your webserver (relevant for GDPR compliance in some countries)
- will not work with most WordPress Caching Plugins (e.g. W3 Total Cache) - for the Plugin to work you have to deactivate all caching Plugins!
- will not block Google bots and thus will not negatively affect your SEO Results
The Stop War! Stop Putin! WordPress Plugin was released shortly after Russia invading the Ukraine.
It is a simplified fork built on the basis of the IP2Location Country Blocker WordPress Plugin.
The included IP2Location LITE data is available from https://lite.ip2location.com.
