godot_open_target_shooter

An open source third person shoot time trial game made with Godot 3.5 .

Time trial shooting across 5 levels in VR.

See how much you can beat the par times. Reduce your time by earning badges and hitting all enemy targets while avoiding friendly targets.

This is a VR conversion of the original project created by thelastflapjack, https://github.com/thelastflapjack/godot_open_target_shooter , itch page: https://thelastflapjack.itch.io/open-target-shooter

He created this project as part of a series of open source stepping stone projects, see his profile for others. The Godot project files are avaliable under the MIT license. Specific asset files have their own permissive licenses which can be found in the download folders.

The Blender files for 3D assets are also available as a separate download under the CC BY 4.0 license on the itch page.

VR CONTROLS

VR controller mapping is found in the "controls" menu. A left handed mode is found in the "settings" menu, which switches your primary weapon hand to the left hand and switches the side of the hand radial menus.

Teleport movement is supported, use your non-gun hand A/X button to teleport. Snap turning can also be enabled in the "settings" menu.

To select your gun, open your weapon radial menu by holding your primary VR controller Y/B button and hovering your hand over the pistol or rifle icon. Then let go of the radial menu button.

To change your level or go back to the main menu once you are in game, open your level select radial menu by holding your secondary VR controller Y/B button and hovering your hand over either the home icon (go back to main menu) or one of the numbers (jump to that level).

Reload your primary weapon by pressing the A/X button on your primary controller.

You can theoretically double wield weapons but there will be bugs with that as the original game was intended for the player to hold just one weapon at once.

Toggle crouch by clicking your right thumb stick, jump by clicking your left thumb stick.

If you feel you need to be a bit taller or that your full body avatar looks crouched, open your gun hand radial menu and select the Godot icon to toggle the height adjustment.
