Investigate Ruby head (2.8.0) build failure

I get a number of failures with Ruby head (2.8.0):

I will temporarily disable ruby-head target in CI, but keep this issue opened to remember to investigate.

I had troubles so far installing ruby-head locally, for some reason. I will revisit this later, or will wait for a release candidate to be available.
