This module contains a Mailman archiver plugin which sends emails to the Public Inbox archiver.
The source code is available on Github https://github.com/tohojo/mailman-public-inbox
For this archiver to work, you need a working public-inbox installation that has
been initialised for your mailing list. Basically, you need to have run
public-inbox-init
and public-inbox-index
for the list already (see their man
pages for instructions).
The archiver will run public-inbox-mda --no-precheck
for each message, after
first parsing the public-inbox config to find the list ID using either the
posting_address
or list_id
config options from public-inbox. The archiver
will also generate a permalink for the message based on the ‘url’ public-inbox
config parameter and the message ID, which will be used by mailman for the
Archived-At header.
Install the module to your Python path so Mailman can find it. Then add this to your mailman.cfg:
[archiver.public_inbox] class: mailman_public_inbox.PublicInbox configuration: /etc/mailman-public-inbox.cfg enable: yes
And copy over the mailman-public-inbox.cfg
file from this repository to
/etc/
, adjusting the variables as necessary.
The plugin will just call public-inbox-mda
, so you need to already have
configured public-inbox to recognise the list (i.e., run public-inbox-init
and
public-inbox-index
beforehand. Since mailman will run public-inbox under its
own credentials, permissions also need to be set to allow this; just setting the
ownership of the public-inbox data directories to be the mailman user is one way
to achieve this.
