Super old code from my first iOS app. It uses the UIDatePicker class to convert any NSDate object's individual NSDateComponents between each of the supported calendars, identified by NSLocale, in the NSCalendar class of the Cocoa framework.
While it's iOS specific, using the UIDatePicker, MacOS X's NSDatePicker works with the same supporting classes.
It doesn't compile in Xcode 7.
