German keyboard layout without dead keys

Installing

  1. Download German_NoDeadKeys.bundle
  2. Copy it into ~/Library/Keyboard\ Layouts/
  3. Reboot
  4. Open System Preferences and select German - No Dead Keys

Optional

You cannot remove the standard german layout from the system preferences menu but there is another way.

  1. open ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist
  2. Remove it from the AppleEnabledInputSources entry
  3. Reboot
