Need for an Implementation Guide

Opened this issue · 0 comments

As discussed in today's TF call, there is a need for a secondary document, likely a TF Note, that provides implementation guidance for developers of assistive technologies and user agents that consume HTML containing pronunciation and other markup influencing generation of text to speech presentation.

Topics within the document would include:

  1. Handling:
  • Non-supported SSML features (e.g., voice)
  • Non-supported languages (the language attribute from HTML)
  • Others?

This may include recommendations for error handling, fallbacks, and reporting to the end-user.

  1. Platforms and TTS known to support core SSML features.

  2. Example Code for Implementers

Other ideas?
