Fast DOF filter with hexagonal shaped apertures

Primary LanguageC#

KinoBokeh

KinoBokeh is an image effect for Unity, which simulates depth-of-field blurring effects with hexagonal shaped apertures.

gif gif

KinoBokeh uses a separable DOF filter technique, which was originally developed by Lorne McIntosh. This is not an artifact-free filter (actually it introduces a lot of small artifacts), but has a good quality vs. performance balance, and can create characteristic bokeh effects at relatively small cost.

System Requirements

Unity 5.0 or later versions.

KinoBokeh requires HDR rendering and linear-space lighting, and thus it's difficult to use the effect on mobile platforms.
