This demo website shows vector tiles built from the Overture 2023-07-26-alpha.0 release using Planetiler's experimental overture schema. See it here: https://msbarry.github.io/planetiler-overture-demo.

Overture data has structured metadata for each element (see schema), but maplibre-gl-js only supports simple key/value pairs. This initial tileset explodes some structs (like names) out into separate attributes, joins lists into comma-separated strings, but leaves some more complex ones (like road flags, lanes, surface, and turn/access restrictures) as JSON objects. These JSON objects aren't be usable for a map style, and make the tiles much larger, but let us explore what the data looks like for now.

Planetiler generated the overture.pmtiles output file in about 15 minutes on an r7g.metal ec2 instance (logs). Even though the raw data is larger than an equivalent planet osm.pbf file (215GB for overture vs. 75GB for osm.pbf) it is faster to read because elements contain their complete geometry and you don't need to join node locations with ways to get their geometries. r7g.metal has 512GB of RAM. Planetiler only needs about ~20GB for this input format, but I used the rest as ramdisk.
