Introduction

The workshop will focus on new and improved methods, techniques, and applications of Computer Vision for Modern Vehicles. A previous issue of this workshop has been held at Wuhan, China (2017). This third issue is being held with ACPR2019 at Auckland, New Zealand.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together engineers and scientists from academia, industry and government to exchange results and ideas for future applications of Computer Vision for Modern Vehicles.

Computer vision for modern vehicles gave researchers access to camera technologies for wide-ranging applications in the automotive industry. Computer vision-based driver assistance is an emerging technology, in both the automotive industry and academia. Despite the existence of some commercial safety systems such as night vision, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning systems, we are at the beginning of a long research pathway towards a future generation of intelligent vehicles.

Call for Papers

Call for papers: We welcome submissions on the following topics, including but not limited to:

  • Low-level vision and image processing, image/video denoising, image enhancement, image super-resolution
  • Stereo vision: 3D computer vision, stereo matching
  • Semantic segmentation, grouping and shape representation
  • Recognition: detection, categorization, indexing and matching, motion and tracking
  • Deep Learning, statistical methods and learning
  • Video: events, activities and surveillance (e.g. at road intersections)
  • Automated vehicles with and without pilot/driver, partial vehicle automation
  • Driver monitoring, driver human factors and personalization
  • Sensing, detection, and actuation
  • Advanced vehicle safety systems, lane change and merging
  • Vision and environment perception, vision based ADAS
  • Vehicle localization and autonomous navigation

  • Submitted papers should not have been published, accepted or under review elsewhere. Non-peer reviewed media, such as Arxiv do not violate the terms.
  • Submissions need to follow the single-blind policy and be formatted in LNCS style, with a maximum of 14 pages (including references).
  • All the papers must be submitted using the provided templates.

Workshop proceedings will be published after the conference in the CCIS series of Springer through the ACPR organizers (publication chair).

NOTE: Registration for workshops is included in the conference registration, i.e., all the registered ACPR participants are free to attend any of the workshops (besides all the sessions of the main conference).

Workshop Chairs

Prof. Jinsheng Xiao Jinsheng Xiao is a professor with School of Electronic Information, Wuhan University, China. His research interests include: Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Vision based Advanced Driver Assistant System. He has published more than 60 papers in international journals or international conferences.

Prof. Atsushi Imiya Atsushi Imiya is the director and a professor with Institute of Management and Information Technologies, Chiba University, Japan. His research interests include: Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Vision based Advanced Driver Assistant System. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals or international conferences. He is a fellow of IAPR and a fellow of IEICE, Japan. He organized Dagstuhl Seminar “Computer Vision for Autonomous Vehicles and Probes” on 2016. He was a starting member of CVVT.

Dr. Hsiang-Jen Chien Hsiang-Jen (Johnny) received his Ph,D. degree from Auckland University of Technology in 2018. He has been working in the field of computer vision and graphics over a decade, during which time more than 50 quality academic writings have been published including a number of award-winning ones. He is currently working in the Department of Business Technology of Auckland Transport as a permanent role of Computer Vision Specialist under Intelligent Transport System (ITS) programme.

Prof. Thomas Braeunl is Professor at the University of Western Australia, Perth, where he directs the Renewable Energy Vehicle Project (REV), having converted several road-licensed cars to battery-electric drive. He is Technical Director of the West Australian Electric Vehicle Trial and the Principal Investigator of the ARC Electric Vehicle Fast-Recharging Project.
