xfce-arc-compiz
I figured after taking all the effort to make my desktop look nice, perhaps others would want to do the same without the hastle that I went through to figure out all the dependancies and tricks to get things working together.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
I am not responsible for messing up your desktop environment. Make a snapshot or back up ~/.config/xfce4 before running. You should know what a command does before running it. That rule includes all the commands in these scripts and these are commented to at lease give you an idea of what is happening.
Components
Requirements
- Xubuntu 16.04
Installation
./arc.sh
Run CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm
) and be sure to enable these plugins:
- Commands
- Composite
- OpenGL
- Window Decoration
- Compiz Library Toolbox
- Regex Matching
These plugins aren't required to run, but are nice to have:
- Move Window
- Grid
- Place Windows
- Resize Window
- Scale
- Snapping Windows
NOTE: If you want the themes but do not want compiz, change line 12 of ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-session.xml to
<value type="string" value="xfwm4"/>
Reboot after selecting desired plugins and changes
Uninstall
./uninstall.sh
Reboot after script finishes
NOTE: This removes all components installed on your machine and reverts dconf attributes to defaults. The only remaining files are those found in this git repository. The default GTK themes Metacity and light-themes are left so that xfce settings can be rolled back to valid defaults.
