Set up Mac OS X for development. Painlessly.

Mac Bootstrap

This project consists of a series of scripts to help you set up a new installation of Mac OS X.

The installation is opinionated and Web Development focused, so make sure you read the scripts before running anything.

Automatic Configuration

After you run through the Mac OS X Welcome video and create an account, log in and download this project from here. Then, open Terminal and simply run ./bootstrap.sh from anywhere on your filesystem.

This script will do the following:

  • Update your Mac OS X operating system and software to the latest version
  • Install a number of useful binaries and apps on the system
  • Run through a number of configuration options
  • Move some opinionated config files into place for a few apps
  • Set up GitHub SSH access
  • Configure Sublime Text for web development

Set Custom Icons

This project comes with a number of hand-selected, flat, minimal icons to replace the ones I don't like in Mac OS X. To set them up:

  • Open the "LiteIcon" application
  • Drag the desired icons to their respective Apps
  • Click "Apply Changes" when you're satisfied
