Increase production disk size or set up automated /tmp dir clearing to avoid unexpected out of space errors

/tmp dir was 34 Gb and disk was out of space for production today after replacing TCGA and PCAWG with new uploads. I think unfiltered PCAWG temp files were 6.1Gb, which is a fairly sizeable portion of a 50Gb allocation, particularly if we are going to host mutliple versions of PCAWG or update it with new classifications.

Can we either increase the size of the disk or set up automatic clearing of the tmp director, or both?

What is the role of the /tmp/output and /tmp/uploads directories and are they safe to clear?
