Cannot open the iOS solution in Monodevelop 2.8.6.4
Krumelur opened this issue · 7 comments
If I try to open the iOS solution file in Monodevelop 2.8.6.4, MD gets stuck and keeps on loading forever, eating up all CPU. If I kill MD after 10 minutes and try again, the SLN file seems to be broken and MD will open it in HEX view.
Does anybody else have this problem?
Hi, we've recently had a merge-explosion with the Samples repo that I'm working toward fixing even now. It seems like the problem you are experiencing is because of git merge markers left in that file from the last merge.
I'm hoping to resolve this within the next half hour. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Okay, I'll stop trying then. Let me know if it's fixed. I'll check back tomorrow and will go to bed now! Thanks!
This is a known issue we are working to rectify. It should be fixed in the
next 24 hours.

Just wanted to update this and say that the fix is now in the pipeline. When Pull Request 284 has been merged, the issue should be resolved.
The fix is already available in CartBlanche/MonoGame-Samples:master, but you should consider using the Samples submodule in the mono/MonoGame:develop to retrieve the samples. (Once pull request 284 has cleared, that is.)
Rene, can you confirm that this works for you now?
We have moved to a sub-module system, so please read here -
https://github.com/mono/MonoGame/wiki/Working-with-Submodules, to see the
easiest way to get things up and running.

Yes, it is working again. Thanks!
Only minor: the Monogame itself is not included, so Monodevelop shows me two unknown projects.
Rene, I would say the easiest way to get MonoGame and the Samples is to clone the MonoGame repository itself, then use git submodule to get the Samples. Like so:
git clone https://github.com/mono/MonoGame.git
cd MonoGame
# Checkout the develop branch
git checkout develop
# init and update the necessary submodules
git submodule init
git submodule update ThirdParty/Libs
git submodule update Samples
Following those steps should get you a clean checkout of the MonoGame repository, along with a Samples submodule that has project references that point to the right location. We'll be adding documentation for this soon. It is a very recent change.
