Event Details - Assign volunteers

We need to consider how the assignment of volunteers works. Currently it allows any user from the system to be assigned with no verification from the person being assigned.

Would this system work better as an invite so that you can invite a volunteer who gets a link to confirm (or SMS). Once confirmed we can finalise the assignment and mark that person as a confirmed volunteer.

I need to review the behaviour further by looking at the code since we may have the concept of "accepting" an assignment but I'm not clear on how it is implemented at the moment.
