When not using "Compute Overlap" and "Positions Defined By Image Metadata", Stitching result is affected by % overlap

The title says most of it.
We have a ZVI file containing multiple tiles acquired with Zeiss AxioVision. If we ask for the stitching plugin not to use "Compute Overlap", the result is affected by the % overlap provided with the slider tool.
This is odd, seeing as the system is supposed to use the metadata provided by the file ("Positions from file", "Defined by image Metadata").
I have seen issue #2 and it seems like it does not set the overlap to 0% but here the overlap should have absolutely no consequence. The positions from the metadata are absolute, are they not?
If you need the files for tests, please let me know.

In preparation for this, I added @StephanPreibisch to the incoming
group (@StephanPreibisch: you can reach the page of uploaded sample images via http://imagej.net/Special:Incoming). @lacan feel free to upload (as small as possible) sample images via Help>Upload Sample Image
proactively.
When using Positions Defined By Image Metadata, the slider is labeled Increase overlap and serves to adjust/override the metadata, which can be useful in cases where an overlap cannot be calculated from the original configuration.
