Some issues about the templates' pcd files

Hi,guys,I saw the similar codes in pcl's examples "train_linemod_template.cpp".And I got the template's pointcloud from the author of linemod's homepage "http://campar.in.tum.de/Main/StefanHinterstoisser" and they are ".ply" types.
Then, my program crashed when I run the "color_grad_mod.processInputData();" and "surface_norm_mod.processInputData();".
Are there any demand for the pointcloud?Is that because the parameter "hight" of the pointcloud I use just be "1"?
And it will be better if you can provide the templates' pointcloud files to me.
