DotEmacs

This repository contains my personal Emacs configuration.

What the .el

If you are wondering where has gone all of the Lisp, fear not, for it is automagically tangled from an Org file into a Lisp file.

Screenshots

My Emacs configuration is a living mixture that I edit on a daily basis. As such, the following screenshots might not reflect exactly what is on :master.

Installation

Dependencies

Tested on macOS only.

I trust your Google-fu to be potent enough that you can make the most of the below instructions.

janssonEnable native JSON parsing
libvtermUsed by terminal emulation within Emacs
pinentryLet Emacs prompt for passphrases
ripgrepPrefer rg over grep
brew install jansson libvterm pinentry ripgrep

Emacs

Install Emacs 27 or above. I prefer =emacs-plus= for its additional compilation flags.

brew tap d12frosted/emacs-plus
brew install emacs-plus@27 --with-modern-papirus-icon --with-no-titlebar

Clone the repository into your user directory.

git clone https://github.com/angrybacon/dotemacs.git ~/.emacs.d/ --recurse-submodules

Flycheck

I use flycheck as linter framework to display syntax warnings and errors within each buffer.

npm install -g eslint # JavaScript
npm install -g jsonlint # JSON
pip install flake8 # Python
gem install scss_lint scss_lint_reporter_checkstyle # SCSS

Icons

The mode-line utilizes features from all-the-icons.

Run the following when Emacs loads up in order to download the required font files.

LSP

In order for Emacs to connect to the LSP servers, install the language-specific packages.

npm install -g typescript typescript-language-server # JavaScript
