The relatioship between throttle and vehicle velocity

Opened this issue · 1 comments

Hi,

I want to know the relationship between the throttle command and the velocity of the vehicle in the gazebo.

Thanks

The relationship between throttle and vehicle velocity can be complex and depends on several factors such as the engine power, transmission gear ratios, vehicle weight, and road conditions. However, in general, the following can be said:

When the throttle is pressed, the engine's power output increases, and this causes the vehicle to accelerate. The rate of acceleration depends on the amount of power being delivered to the wheels, which in turn is affected by factors such as the gear ratio of the transmission, the weight of the vehicle, and the friction between the tires and the road.

Once the vehicle reaches a certain speed, the rate of acceleration will start to decrease, and eventually, the vehicle will reach a steady speed where the engine's power output is equal to the forces acting against the vehicle, such as air resistance and rolling resistance. This is the vehicle's top speed, and it can be maintained by holding the throttle at a certain position.

In summary, pressing the throttle will increase the engine's power output and cause the vehicle to accelerate, but the rate of acceleration and the top speed will depend on several factors.
