This repository contains a Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) curated list of GIS data and mapping resources. The intention of this list is to assist TBRPC staff, member governments and partners with regional planning information acquisition.

Public Data Resources

Data resources that are publicly available for use. Licenses may apply.


TBRPC Resources

  • TBRPC GeoHub - Platform for exploring and downloading TBRPC GIS data, discovering maps and apps, and engaging TBRPC member governments to solve important regional issues.
  • TBRPC FTP Site - Project specific data only accessible via FTP client. Email GIS Manager at TBRPC for access.

  • Coastal High Hazard Area - Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) compiled Coastal High Hazard Area (CHHA) GIS files are available in this library.
  • Red Tide Resource - Red Tide resources and maps compiled by Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
  • Storm Surge Zones - Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) compiled Storm Surge Zones GIS files are available in this library.
  • US Building Footprints - Microsoft Maps has released a country wide open building footprints dataset in the United States that is freely available for download and use.

  • American Community Survey - The American Community Survey (ACS) helps local officials, community leaders, and businesses understand the changes taking place in their communities. It is the premier source for detailed population and housing information about our nation.
  • CDC Social Vulnerability Index - CDC Social Vulnerability Index (CDC SVI) uses 15 U.S. census variables to help local officials identify communities that may need support before, during, or after disasters based on their level of social vulnerability. Additional Information: Download.
  • Census TIGER Line Shapefiles - The TIGER/Line Shapefiles are extracts of selected geographic and cartographic information from the Census Bureau.
  • FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer Viewer - The National Flood Hazard Layer Viewer dataset represents the current effective flood data for the country.
  • GeoPlatform.gov - The Geospatial Platform is a cross-agency collaborative effort and Shared Service that embodies the principles and spirit of Open Government, emphasizing government-to-citizen communication, accountability, and transparency.
  • NASA Center for Climate Simulation - NCCS Data Services houses curated data collections that include atmosphere, ocean, land, and flood data, both current and historical, as well as operational Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) weather analysis data and forecasts that are updated four times daily.
  • National Hurricane Center - NHC Data in GIS Formats.
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - NOAA Data Access Viewer.
  • Sea Level Rise Viewer - NOAA provided map viewer is to provide federal, state, and local coastal resource managers and planners with a preliminary look at sea level rise and coastal flooding impacts.
  • U.S. Geological Survey National Geospatial Program - The NGP provides a foundation of digital geospatial data representing the topography, natural landscape, and manmade environment of the United States.
